Description

BirdView has partnered with Vivus, a leading provider of beneficial insects for agricultural applications. Vivus specializes in breeding Telenomus wasps, a highly effective natural enemy of stink bugs. Utilizing BirdView’s packaging and release technologies, Vivus has been able to significantly enhance the quality and efficiency of their pest control offerings. Our technology is a key differentiator for Vivus, enabling the release of Telenomus wasps as fed and sexed adults directly into the field. This ensures that the insects are in optimal condition upon release, leading to faster action times and improved control of stink bug populations.

Impact & Result

On average, each drone operation saves approximately 10 tons of CO2 equivalent annually compared to diesel-powered equipment. The shift to biological pest control has dramatically reduced the need for chemical insecticides, leading to a decrease in chemical residues and packaging waste. Annually, this saves around 2,000 liters of chemical insecticides and prevents the disposal of thousands of plastic containers. The cost of releasing Telenomus wasps has decreased from 15$/ha to around 5$/ha.

Solution Spotlight

At BirdView, we develop advanced equipment and technologies to enhance the effectiveness and reduce the costs of biological pest control. The innovative packaging and release systems allow for the large-scale deployment of beneficial insects, providing a natural and eco-friendly solution to pest infestations. This approach minimizes the need for chemical insecticides, preventing environmental damage and reducing the risk of pests developing resistance. The solutions benefit farmers, agro-industries, and public health initiatives by promoting sustainable agriculture and improving overall ecosystem health.
