Since 2021, OroraTech has partnered with ARAUCO, Chile’s largest forestry company, to enhance wildfire management through the Wildfire Solution (WFS). By 2023, ARAUCO had integrated OroraTech’s tools, including Fire Spread, into daily operations. These innovations improved nighttime monitoring, enabled faster damage assessments, and provided real-time fire simulations to support field teams. Fire Spread stood out for its user-friendly interface and speed, helping ARAUCO transform satellite data into actionable firefighting strategies. During the El Quillay fire in 2024, Fire Spread accurately predicted fire movement, boosting ARAUCO’s confidence in adopting it fully.This collaboration has enabled ARAUCO to reduce response times, optimize resources, and improve fire suppression. Future enhancements, like mobile access for field commanders, promise even greater efficiency. OroraTech’s tools empower ARAUCO to combat wildfires proactively, protecting assets, communities, and forests.
In 2023, we estimated that we saved 200,000 kilograms of CO2 at ARAUCO operations from quickly mitigating fires. When applied across our customers for 2024, we estimated that we saved between 69 and 168 metric Tons of CO2. In 2023, we estimated that we saved commercial forestry customer ARAUCO nearly $1.74 million in suppression costs and damages associated with fighting fires.
