Brigerbad, a new residential building in Valais was equipped with a geothermal installation for heating in winter and cooling in summertime, planned for year-round operation. Shortly after installation, the system was blocked by iron bacteria, resulting in temporary replacement by an energy-intensive electric boiler. At the end of 2021, the Canton of Valais approached AQUA4D to enquire about trialing this technology, which was then installed in January 2022. The project was closely followed, with data showing no more fluctuations and a constant 47 degrees over 3 months – showing AQUA4D is helping maintain a stable temperature between incoming and outgoing water.
The company is proud to announce the completion of its 50th installation in a municipal building within the canton of Valais. These installations, spread across various towns, include fire stations, police stations, schools, and sports facilities, all of which continue to benefit from sustainable water system treatment.
Through innovative water treatment, AQUA4D® simultaneously addresses two of the major issues facing agriculture and the world: water scarcity and land degradation. In doing so, this cleantech helps growers cultivate more sustainably while achieving higher yields and smaller water footprints. AQUA4D® Precision Irrigation entails less watering, manages salinity, and boosts nutrient and fertilizer uptake. This regenerative and sustainable approach to agriculture results in healthier lands, saved resources, and increased food and water security.
Water and resources: This new paradigm of sustainable water management boosts water penetration in soil, keeping the root zone moister for longer and leading to water savings. With the huge amount of energy used in irrigation pumping, better efficiency can drastically reduce power consumption and emissions associated with irrigated agriculture.
Salinity management: By acting upon the minerals contained within water, AQUA4D® simultaneously leaches away salts and even allows irrigation with saline/brackish water. Salts no longer gather on soil surfaces or root zones, soil health and its biological life is dramatically improved. AQUA4D® is the only technology on the market which solves salinity while using less water in the process – and enabling continued irrigation with saline water.
Fertilizer efficiency: AQUA4D® improves dissolution and hydration of minerals and fertilizers in irrigation water. Plants can more effectively absorb what they need, resulting in stronger root development, healthier plants, and less fertilizer being applied in a regenerative approach to agriculture.
