Description

The PURE project, co-funded by EIT Manufacturing and led by COMAU, aimed to industrialize ISCLEANAIR's APA (Air Pollution Abatement) technology to TRL 9 and demonstrate its effectiveness in reducing indoor air pollution in manufacturing environments. Using a patented water-based, filter-less system, APA removes a wide range of pollutants—including PMs, VOCs, and ultrafine nanoparticles—making it highly sustainable, cost-effective, and capable of creating clean air "bubbles" in polluted industrial spaces. In collaboration with CEA, the system was validated in Spain's Fagor plant, where 5 APA Panels reduced PM emissions by over 50% and VOCs by 40-60%, delivering exceptional air quality improvements with minimal maintenance.

Impact & Result

More than 50% abatement of all PMs during painting operations, that emit a lot of PMs, and more than 60% TVOC abatement was observed for polishing and putty filling, and more than 40% for painti. Joint to the great efficacy, it was estimated a high reduction of costs of maintenance and air cleaning activities, protecting workers’ and employee’s health.

Solution Spotlight

APA technology provides a triple win solution for indoor and outdoor spaces, by removing harmful pollutants and CO2 from the air, alongside viruses and bacteria, disinfecting & only one in the world allowing to detect viruses timely. When APA is coupled with HVAC, enables significant reduction of energy consumptions and maintenance costs (all of that with a patented granted approach using simple water, making APA 100% sustainable, zero waste and ESG compliant, an extremely cost-effective solution supporting economic restart). APA is recognized as "Best Available Technology - BAT" (for its action to reduce atmospheric pollution), a CLASS 1 - EC medical device (for its ability to protect people's health) and is also part of the SOLAR IMPULSE FOUNDATION (labelled and member solution) as it is strongly performing and fully sustainable and consistent with the principles and paradigms of the Circular, socio-environmental and governance (ESG) economy.
