Ben and Jerry’s
South Burlington
Ben and Jerry’s has been using Akeptus since 2021 to assess buildings in 500 different locations across the United States in order to identify anomalies in energy use, decide the best strategies for correcting detected issues, and conduct measurement and verification of finished projects. The Solution is also used to manage HVAC systems with the purpose of boosting comfort, controlling humidity, and lowering energy consumption.
- Achieved a 15% reduction in energy consumption across multiple retail locations, significantly lowering operational costs.
- Improved energy management led to increased compliance with environmental regulations and boosted the company's reputation as a leader in sustainability.
Aktepus monitors and controls HVAC, lighting, and other systems by integrating information obtained from sensors on a range of outdoor environmental (temperature, humidity), indoor environmental (temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide), and equipment sensors to reduce energy use. The vision and capabilities of Aktepus exceed traditional smart home technologies through the use of the Artificial Intelligence paradigm. The various components of the overall technology include a sensory infrastructure to track energy consumption and environmental data, an AI data analytics engine to process sensory data and develop energy efficiency strategies, an actuation infrastructure to control devices and execute energy strategies, and a user interaction framework to communicate with the consumer. To meet the challenge of bandwidth constraints, Aktepus developed advanced computing hardware that performs comprehensive and compact data extraction on the same hardware that hosts data transmission services and then transmits only selective data to a low-bandwidth remote server.
