story image

Description

Dejeuneo is a zero-waste caterer that provides catering services to businesses in Paris. Based in the city, they make all their deliveries by bicycle but encounter major maintenance issues with their delivery tricycles. The loads to be transported are significant for a bicycle as some operations are carried out for several dozen guests, which results in the transport of a lot of weight. Zero waste is an especially significant challenge, as all disposable materials are replaced with wood, metal, and glass. Attempts to use conventional utility vehicles have proved unsuccessful as the numerous traffic jams make it impossible to respect the schedules imposed by their clients. Indeed, this logistics business must comply with meal schedules in addition to the various industry regulations that apply to it.

Impact & Result

2,000 tonnes of COsaved per year (based on 1,000 vehicles produced) compared to the use of an average utility vehicle. Also avoids electricity production with the cyclist's physical effort and regeneration. Low cost of use. With battery charging estimated at €0.17/kWh (off-peak rate) x 5 kWh (consumption for 100 km) x 25 days/month = €17/month, compared to about €300 for a thermal vehicle. With Cygus' 450 kg payload, dejeuneo is able to group together several deliveries.

Solution Spotlight

Cygus is a vehicle, a part of the "bike composed of a tricycle and an electrically assisted carrier for bikes" category. The tricycle can be used on its own to transport the user, drop off, or pick up a carrier. The carrier can be used detached, in a pedestrian mode to access the last meters on foot. Finally, the superior module is interchangeable and adapts itself to a variety of professions and work missions.
