The ECOPlanet range of green cement range reduces CO2 emissions by at least 30% (1).With Holcim’s industry-leading formulation expertise, ECOPlanet’s sustainability profile is driven by innovative low-emission raw materials, including calcined clay and recycled construction and demolition waste. Its lower carbon footprint is further enhanced by decarbonizing its production process led by the use of alternative fuels. (1) Compared to ordinary (CEM I/OPC) cement. The Environmental Benefits

  • 274 kg CO2/T for Planet vs 765 kg CO2/T for the reference cement of the regulator
  • A composition made of 66% of recycled materials (slag)
  • Replacing a bag of conventional cement (CEM II/B-LL) by a bag of "Planet®" results in a 52% CO2 reduction.
  • There is zero packaging waste on the construction site

The Financial Benefits

  • No cost for waste management on construction sites, as the "Planet®" bags are fully dispersible in the concrete mixer (no paper or plastic bags left on site after use)
  • On average, buildings with sustainable construction certification are valued between 6% and 12% higher than conventional buildings.
