Bio-Circular advanced polymers produced from castor seeds. Castor is not only renewable, but it does not compete with the food chain and does not cause deforestation. It is profitably grown by several thousand famers in India. Advanced polyamide 11 materials (exclusively offered by Arkema) offer higher impact resistance than traditional materials produced from fossil fuels while also demonstrating a climate change impact that is approximately 70% lower. Castor seed is a low-risk crop with a favorable sustainability profile – no competition with food, no deforestation, and profitable for the farmers. To support its ABC Materials offer, Arkema is a founding member of the Pragati initiative which has educated and certified more than 6,000 castor farmers to date. Arkema has also commercialized its Virtucycle program – an ad hoc in-house recycling program in collaboration with partner customers.

- •Produced from a renewable feedstock (castor seeds) instead of traditional fossil fuel oils. Castor seeds are inedible, and do not result in competition with food, neither do they cause deforestation
- •Arkema recently invested 450 M€ in a new plant in Singapore to produce polyamide 11 exclusively from castor oil
