The Microcims project intends to provide a distribution system capable of, under the scenario established by the COVID-19 outage, overcome mobility restrictions through the construction and operation of an urban micro-distribution centre using mainly electric or non-electric Cargo bikes.
To do this, Microcims is equipped with electric cargo bicycles in which first and last mile transport services are performed. Furthermore, the operating system is based on software developed to be in charge of all the logistics stages; route planning, order and shipping management, ... In this way, local stores have a tool to maintain door-to-door service. The consolidation of multi-operator merchandise in the last mile is an exciting challenge in which Cargobici provides an innovative solution, avoiding failed deliveries (10-15%).

Implemented by Bimbo Group in Barcelone (Spain) in 2021
The Bimbo Group aimed to reduce its CO2 emissions from transport by 3.5 tons and commissioned Cargobici for a pilot test in the District of San Martin in Barcelona to make deliveries from a single location. During the first 8 months, 1 hub covering the north of the city was used to carry out the distribution during two days per week. The following 7 months, the operation was carried out from 2 Hubs covering the south of Barcelona as well, two days a week from each hub to cover more surface.
Result
In 1 year and 3 months, the co2 emitted by bimbo reduced by almost 5.5 tons
