SAF+ - Produces high quality, competitive sustainable aviation fuel using innovative CO2 conversion technology

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has estimated that the aviation sector's carbon footprint will be double of pre-COVID levels by 2037. This trend will significantly increase the aviation sector's GHG footprint, which has most recently accounted for 3% of annual global GHG emissions. In response, the global aviation sector has begun establishing targets to achieve carbon-neutral growth. Considering the changing regulatory environment for reducing GHG emissions, and that there are still very few sustainable fuel initiatives for aviation, airlines will face an urgent need for low-carbon fuels in the coming years. SAF+ captures carbon and combines it with hydrogen to produce ASTM-7566 compliant jet fuel. By doing so, its jet fuel leads to an 80% reduction in life cycle GHG emissions as compared to conventional jet fuels. This helps airlines by complying with mandates set by international and national organizations seeking to meet their GHG reduction targets.

Key features

  • For each ton of SAF+ fuel produced, we capture 2.7 tons of CO2 and avoid 100% of the emissions and impacts linked to oil extraction
  • One liter of SAF+ fuel needs only between 1.2 l to 3 l of water, up to 86% reduction compared with regular jet fuel
  • Over 80% CO2e reduction as compared to conventional jet fuel
  • Virtually no SOx emissions, up to 90% less particulate matter and up to 5% less NOx than regular jet fuel

Profitability

  • When operational, our fuel could take 1600 passengers per day from Montreal to Chicago
  • Production cost is 100% independent of fossil fuel prices
  • We sell sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) that is 33% cheaper than SAF alternatives.
