With almost 15 billion single-use packaging sent in the world in 2018 and 10% annual growth, e-commerce shipments are generating 4 million tonnes of waste per year. And after Asia closed its doors to the waste from Europe, including cardboard, European recycling centers are saturated. Paper mills factories are now prioritising corporate waste, which is less mixed and less contaminated with other waste than household waste. Other types of cardboard waste are often incinerated or buried. Hipli is acting to minimize the environmental impact of the e-commerce packaging by helping brands to offer a great customer experience without generating waste while reducing significantly the environmental footprint of e-commerce shipments.
