Boxilumix - A solution to reduce the use of chemicals in agriculture

According to UN, global food waste is estimated at 33% (1,3 BT/yr, €800B) during storage, processing, and transportation, while 1 in 10 people fall ill every year from eating contaminated food, resulting in 420 000 annual deaths. Boxilumix aims at providing a sustainable, profitable, and ecologically healthy option to traditional farming for small, medium, and large food retailers. The Solution relies on specific LED lighting techniques at different wavelengths to improve plant development stages, growth, and health as well as shelf life extension, with nutrition enhancement. Main applications include farming, retail and smart logistics sectors. Boxilumix systems increase crop yield by 15-20% with higher product quality. Vegetables such as carrots have their shelf life extended from 4 days in a dark refrigerated to 28 when treated 30s at day 1 of harvest with Boxilumix. Lettuces grown on an agricultural field after treatment will have 16% more mass. Finally, the solution helps to reduce fertilizer usage from 20 to 2%.
