VOLITO is a sensor technology for the digitalization of insects monitored pre-harvest in high-input crops. In-field sensors will enable farmers to only treat fields when and where it is really needed. New and improved solutions for farmers at the intersection of sensors, data acquisition and machine learning will assist growers in improving their insect control interventions. The ability to assess in-field insect populations under various conditions reduces the risk of crop failure, drives on-farm profitability, and helps the farmer and the industry to understand the agricultural field-environment interaction. GPS tagged data from all sensor installations will additionally provide the possibility to compare development from field-to-field, region-to-region, and country-to-country over time. This unique database will provide the agrochemical industry, regulators, environmental protection agencies and researchers a possibility to track broader impacts on the environment.
