A new, innovative and sustainable drinking water service for rural Africa

Identification
The United Nations' 6th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG6) aims at "universal and equitable access to safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation by 2030". Today, in Sub-Saharan Africa, 55% of rural inhabitants do not have basic access to drinking water. UDUMA proposes a real solution for achieving the SDG6 in Sub-Saharan Africa. UDUMA provides a sustainable drinking water service for African villages. In a village that has chosen to delegate its drinking water management service to UDUMA, "intelligent" water points, which enable remote monitoring of consumption and breakdowns, replace pumps that have broken down or are very old. Each inhabitant has an electronic card for simplified payment of the quantities of water they need. Thanks to this approach and the implementation of these innovative tools, professional management is possible: providing services that meet the drinking water needs of rural populations in Sub-Saharan Africa is becoming an economically viable activity
