SOLVAir(r) is a highly efficient flue gas cleaning solution using safe sodium based sorbent contributing to overcome health and environment related challenges. The solution is 100% dry so it doesn't need water and doesn't produce effluent. Thanks to the high reactivity of the sorbent, minimum CAPEX is required to meet the most stringent regulatory requirements. Compared to competing technologies, it allows a higher energy efficiency. Solvay offers solutions for the recycling of the products generated by the flue gas treatment process.

The Environmental Benefits

  • The solution can be implemented in newly built plants, after revamping or often just by substituting other sorbents
  • The solution is applicable in a wide range of temperatures, from 80 °C to 800°C
  • It also provides flexibility in adapting to ever-evolving emissions regulations
  • The solution allows a very high mitigation rate of pollutants (achievable more than 99% of mitigation for HCl and SO2) using a safe sodium bicarbonate based sorbent
  • Achievable Net Energy efficiency in waste to energy 88%.
  • Preserving resources: no water consumption, no effluent and generating twice less residue from the flue gas treatment than competing technology (products of the chemical reactions between acid pollutants and the sorbent)

The Financial Benefits

  • Less CAPEX vs competing technologies: -10 to -30 %
  • Lower operational costs in WtE up to 5 €/ t of waste treated in WtE.
