NEODRY is a dehumidification system based on waste heat recovery which offers 50% to 75% electricity savings.
The innovative membrane-based exchangers developed by STEM are based on the physical principle of heat and mass transfer through the membrane. With NEODRY, the air that has to be dehumidified, goes through the membrane exchanger. A liquid desiccant solution (highly concentrated in salt), circulated on the other side of the membrane, absorbs the humidity present in the air that is transferred through the membrane. In this process, treated air is never in contact with the solution thanks to the membrane hydrophobic property. The regeneration of the desiccant solution is done thanks to low-temperature waste heat (around 30°C) in a symmetrical membrane-based exchanger. This innovative dehumidifier system allows significant energy savings compared to existing solutions like solid desiccant wheels (75% savings) or AHU with cooling coils (above 50% savings).
