Identification

The solution aims at having low negative impacts on environmental and human health, in comparison with mainstream leathers (animal leather). This solution is made by turning agroforestry waste, such as sawdust, into a growth medium for mushroom mycelia. The humidity and temperature of the mycelia are closely regulated during the incubation period, which is carried out for several weeks until the mycelia layer grows the appropriate thickness. Then, the mycelia are processed by using chromium-free natural dyes. The process doesn't involve animal killings and the mushrooms can grow in vertical farming while consuming less water and emiting low carbon emission. Mylea is a real and convenient alternative to the mainstream leather. The mycelium leather material can be processed further by craftsmen into various products such as wallets, bags, shoes and many more.
