Mottainai 5.0 implements a disruptive and profitable business model with outstanding societal and environmental impact. Local 2nd/3rd generation biomass and plastic waste streams are blended into biomaterial compounds to keep valuable biomass residues circular instead of depleting or burning, to address plastic pollution through a straight-forward recycling, to decarbonize our atmosphere and to reduce material costs. nature2world is applying outstanding material formulations and advanced processes to directly and in-situ valorize local biomass (agricultural & fishery residues, food processing and organic industrial waste) and recycled plastic waste streams into next generation feedstock for standard polymer processes. A direct use of residues is creating circular, carbon negative, high-performing and low-cost material compounds. Robust turn-key biomaterials manufacturing sites are set-up jointly with local manufacturing partners right where residue streams are available.

The environmental benefits

  • 1 kg of virgin polymer feedstock can be replaced directly with 1 kg biomaterial compound - built with 0.5 kg recycled plastics and 0.5 kg 2nd/3rd generation biomass
  • The biomaterial compound is up to 20% better in mechanical performance (flexural strength, compressive strength) and up to 30% better in thermal properties (HDT-B) compared to virgin polymers
  • 1 kg of biomaterial compound saves 1.5 kg CO2 equivalents (for a standard site up to 750 tons of CO2 equivalents annually); additionally, it stores biogenic carbon from our atmosphere more permanently
  • 1 standard biomaterial manufacturing site recycles and valorizes 250 - 350 tons of plastic waste annually
  • 1 standard biomaterial manufacturing site keeps annually 150 - 250 tons of 2nd/3rd generation biomass circular

  • Biomaterial compound feedstock is 15% - 25% lower in costs compared to virgin polymer feedstock (DDP on site)
  • End-products molded with biomaterial compounds are 5% - 10% lower in costs compared to parts made with virgin feedstock
