A unique bromine recycling process enabling the recovery of 99% of the bromine contained in bromine-bearing brines
Maxibrome combines a thermal purification technique with bromine concentration loops to recover 99% of the bromine contained in bromine-bearing brines (hazardous liquid waste generated by the pharmaceutical and chemical sectors, which was previously disposed of by incineration). The production capacity of the process enables to satisfy over 1/3 of the French bromine demand. In brief, polluted bromine-bearing brines are converted into purified and concentrated bromine brines that can be used by the industry. Maxibrome avoids the extraction of a rare natural resource by valorizing brominated waste. This process consumes less water and energy than virgin bromine production and participates in securing a European supply of bromine at a competitive price.
