Climate change create an urgent need for emission-free electric propulsion in marine applications. On the market existing powertrains for marine applications are based on conventional technology. This means that industrial electric motors are used; still requiring shafts, gearbox and a cooling system, ending up in a bulky, heavy and inefficient driveline with many parts requiring maintenance. Zparq have solved this by designing a unique motor dedicated for marine applications, completely immersed in water without encapsulation. With direct drive, no gear box, no additional cooling, and a small form-factor; With higher efficiency and minimal maintenance, operational time and range is increased significantly. The scalability and modularity of Zparq's technology makes the Zparq motor very versatile and cost efficient as the same solution can be used in variety of applications and several segments in the maritime market.
