Agglomération Seine-Eure
Seine-Eure
The Seine-Eure agglomeration in Normandy, France, has established itself as a pioneer in sustainable transportation through the adoption of the Woodybus, locally known as S'cool Bus. As Woodybus's first historic customer, the Seine-Eure community has invested in nearly 40 vehicles over the past four years. The initiative stemmed from a need to address environmental concerns and promote eco-friendly transportation solutions for local schools.
With a capacity to transport 8 passengers and a driver on board, the Woodybus can replace up to 8 individual cars. Over a standard school year of 182 days, with an average round trip distance of 5 km for each journey, this equates to a total reduction of 3 tonnes of CO2 eq per year. This estimate is based on the fact that the average 10 km journey in an individual car generates approximately 2.2 kg of CO2 eq, according to ADEME.
Imagine a collaborative, eco-designed vehicle capable of replacing up to 8 cars. That's the Woodybus, a wooden velobus made in France. It serves various purposes: collective transport, intergenerational outings, tourism, corporate shuttles, friendly carpooling, deliveries... Ideal for short routes, it's designed to carry 8 children and 1 adult and also existed for 7 adults or less (with storage), promoting biking, teamwork, and road safety. Available for purchase or long-term rental, the Woodybus offers an eco-friendly and sociable alternative for daily travel. It represents much more than just a means of transportation. Everywhere it goes, smiles light up faces. Trying it is adopting it.
