BASF
Ludwigshafen
BASF has a longstanding tradition of quality work, emphasizing efficiency and reliability. To enhance their operations, they conducted a market analysis to identify the ideal solution for collecting and interpreting data more accurately and efficiently. This led to the adoption of wireless vibration monitoring. I-care’s monitoring devices identified early signs of bearing damage, enabling a BASF plant to schedule timely maintenance and minimize downtime. One of the detected bearing issues could have posed a safety risk. Additionally, I-care identified vibration issues that had the potential to damage machinery. Proactively addressing these minor problems required minimal effort and significantly extended the machines' lifespan.
BASF avoided hours of unplanned downtime. Machine failures avoided conduct also to waste saved and less spare parts. This impact is, for sure, environmental but also economic because unplanned downtime is excessively expensive. Reducing time on "fire-fighting" by customers' maintenance team could also save more time to focus on planning.
Thanks to the new Wi-care 130 G23 sensors, the Wi-care as a service solution (WaaS) enables to remotely diagnose rotating machines in real time. This helps to optimize machine operation and maintenance plans, and to anticipate breakdowns. Remote monitoring by I-Care engineers enables to select equipment requiring attention and to propose appropriate solutions, whereas conventional predictive maintenance is systematic (analysis of all machines on site, regardless of their operating status) and ad hoc.
