The Oxfordshire Municipality
Oxford
The Oxfordshire Municipality commissioned Naked Energy to install 495 VirtuHOT HD tubes at their Woodgreen leisure center in 2022. The installation was used to directly replace natural gas to heat the outdoor swimming pool (50m x 20m) during the swimming season from April to September. The rest of the year, the installation provides domestic hot water for showers and space heating for the entire leisure center. The installation will generate 122,475 kWh thermal.
The system achieves significant environmental and financial benefits by saving 22.55 tons of CO₂ emissions annually. Additionally, it reduces energy costs by approximately £17,000 per year compared to traditional gas-based systems, making it both eco-friendly and cost-effective.
Virtu represents a whole new category of solar technology enabling businesses and organisations around the world to lower operating costs and produce substantially more sustainable, on-site energy from the space available. VirtuPVT is a high energy density solution providing combined solar heat and power in a single elegant product. VirtuHOT is aimed at high heat use and higher temperature applications. The flexible, attractive design allows for rooftop, ground and building facade installation. Virtu benefits from a unique modular design, generating both solar heat and power from the available space. Using the same collector for combined heat and power production means reduced cost of materials and installation, improving returns and enhancing asset values. Some applications, such as solar cooling, require much higher output temperatures, addressed by the complementary range of VirtuHOT solar collectors, using the same design architecture and high-performance vacuum technology.
