AXA
Paris
At AXA’s 60’000 m² headquarters in Paris, improving water and energy efficiency was both a challenge and an opportunity. Traditional systems for heating and sanitary facilities lacked monitoring or optimisation features, meaning inefficiencies - from leaks to unsolicited hot water circulation - often went unnoticed until they generated higher bills, wasted resources, and unnecessary maintenance interventions
To address this, AXA deployed Droople’s Water Intelligence Platform, a digital monitoring and optimisation system combining IoT sensors (iLink Smart Pressure, Flow Mono, Trion Mono) with AI-driven analytics. Installed across two sanitary blocks and three boilers, the platform provided a continuous stream of real-time data on water flow, pressure, and temperature. This allowed facility managers to detect anomalies instantly, optimise distribution, and schedule targeted maintenance rather than rely on reactive interventions.
Long periods of unsolicited hot water use were uncovered, enabling AXA to deactivate half of its water heaters. Early detection of malfunctioning equipment reduced waste and unplanned maintenance. Together, these measures translated into nearly €239,600 over 6 months in savings across energy, water, and operations. 447,360 kWh of energy saved has avoided the emission of 44 tCO₂eq, while more than 2 million litres of drinking water were preserved.
Today, more than 100 billion water assets remain offline, leaving vendors and operators blind to their performance (uptime, downtime, output, frequency of use, flow time, etc.), maintenance needs, and consumable replenishment. This lack of visibility leads to inefficiencies such as unplanned maintenance (30%), energy waste (20%), and financial impairment from water damage (over CHF 30 billion worldwide annually). Droople offers a full-stack IoT platform that combines patented edge devices (Droople iLink®), machine learning algorithms, and a modular platform. This system enables real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and automated consumable procurement. Droople retrofits existing water endpoints with sensors, providing valuable data on usage, performance, and maintenance needs. This unique approach, summarised as "Understand, Value, Manage," empowers stakeholders to reduce operational costs, extend asset lifetimes, and drive water-energy savings.
