Enedis
Menton
In France, Enedis accelerated the electrification of its vehicle fleet by implementing Mob-Energy’s optimisation platform, Eiko. They originally faced multiple challenges: short deadlines, limited budgets, civil work constraints, and scalability requirements across four regions; Clermont-Ferrand, Menton, Chambéry, and Libourne. Traditional EV charging stations could not address these issues, as they require trenching, heavy cabling, and major grid reinforcements, leading to increased costs and prolonged construction. Compared to conventional installations, the Eiko system optimises energy use by leveraging surplus renewable energy and off-peak tariffs. Eiko relies on second-life automotive batteries, promoting circularity while enabling night-time storage and day-time redistribution with off-peak tariffs. Instead of charging all vehicles directly from the grid, which requires extensive cabling and power reinforcements, the batteries are charged overnight through a single power connection.
The above-ground structure cuts deployment time by 80%, and combined with the absence of grid works, it reduces installation costs by up to 75%. Avoiding civil engineering, using ten times fewer cables, and revalorising second-life batteries prevents the equivalent of 15 tCO₂e emissions per 15 charging stations, amounting to 54 tCO₂e avoided for Enedis. Since batteries are charged at night, instant demand is divided by three compared to conventional charging, further easing grid strain.
We installed the cube and terminals at the Menton site in one week. For us, this solution ticks all the boxes: speed, simplicity and CSR.
Alain Gaggero, Internal Mobility Advisor, Enedis – Menton
With its Eiko platform, Mob-Energy is reinventing vehicle charging and offering the only solution that can charge up to 25 vehicles with the electrical power normally used by a single charging point. Without any civil or electrical works required. Businesses and public authorities can set up Eiko in just a few days, without any work, and add additional charging points at a later date without any constraints. Eiko can also store energy in second life batteries to reduce energy bills by optimising off-peak times, absorb surplus solar energy or re-inject it into buildings. With Eiko, recharging becomes simple, agile, efficient and economical.
