“Un mois sans ma voiture” challenge from the canton de Vaud and city of Lausanne.
The challenge invites volunteers to test alternatives to the private car free of charge for one month.
Owning a car in Switzerland costs around 733 CHF per month (2), making public transport a cost-saving alternative. Reducing car use, can have profound benefits for individuals and communities. By offering free trials of public transport, bike rentals, or ride-sharing, it encourages a shift toward sustainable commuting. Participants benefit from lower expenses, reduced stress, and improved health while contributing to cleaner air and less congestion (5). Many discover public transport’s efficiency and cycling’s health benefits (4).
