Najaf
Boreal Light designed a high capacity ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis purification machine capable of producing 45,000 liters per hour. Powered by 102 kW solar panels, this system is sustainable and reliable in a desert environment, producing water with a 97% recovery rate and reducing CO2 emissions. The main source of water for Najaf is the Najaf Sea, a saline body of water located in the eastern part of the city. Now, the Imām 'Alī shrine is able to provide water for its pilgrims, ensuring that it is a safe place for them and future generations to visit. The sustainability of the system and its high capacity design provides water for over 10,000 taps on the shrine’s campus, supplying water to people from all over the world while not compromising the health or resources of Najaf and its local residents.
This project significantly reduced the diesel consumption of the shrine, saving it money and resources.
For off-grid communities around the globe, access to water can be very complex, and access to clean water can be even more difficult. WaterKiosk is capable of delivering high quality hygiene drinking, irrigation, fish farm and sanitation water from any kind of high saline and polluted water resources. The main characteristics of this solution is that it is powered fully by solar, the simplicity of its design and its affordability. Systems offered by Boreal Light are ideal island solutions with no need of battery, diesel, or grid, just powered by solar! It requires low maintenance, as over 80% of the maintenance needs just a wrench and a screw driver!
