Description

As part of Senegal's fight against malaria and vector-borne diseases, Qista intends to fulfil its objective of protecting the population by drastically reducing the number of mosquitoes in the Kaolack department, which is serving as a large-scale test site with the installation of 104 mosquito traps.

Impact & Result

The mission is twofold: to protect areas infested with malaria and to monitor potential mosquito breeding grounds. A total of 104 mosquito traps will be deployed across Kaolack to protect men, women and children! Protecting schools and healthcare facilities such as hospitals and medical centres is a priority. Each trap will be able to monitor mosquito activity. This valuable information will give local health authorities an overview of the evolution of the vector risk.

Solution Spotlight

For respiratory simulation, each BAM diffuses CO2 (recycled, from the fermentation of cereals) and olfactory lures in quantities similar to those of humans. The Smart BAM responds to a large-scale ecological mosquito control problem. BAM is environmentally friendly as it has no negative impact on the environment and biodiversity thanks to its species selectivity rate of 99.8%. The well-being of the citizen is ensured because there is no nuisance and danger to humans. In addition, Smart BAM also offers a sanitary tool to control and prevent the vectorial risk linked with mosquitoes (counting, identification of captured species and declaration of AI) thanks to its monitoring system. This trap meets the needs of countries where vector-borne diseases are a major political and health priority.
