Mybuxi

Mybuxi launched in 2019 in Langenthal, Switzerland, as an electric, demand-responsive transport service designed to improve rural mobility. Developed by a local non-profit cooperative, Mybuxi provides shared rides using 100% electric vehicles, bookable via mobile app or phone. It serves low-density areas where conventional public transport is limited or inefficient, offering flexible routing and real-time ride pooling. The service initially operated in the Oberaargau and Emmental regions and has since expanded to other municipalities. Mybuxi works in partnership with local governments, utilities, and sponsors, and is supported by volunteer drivers. It fills a critical mobility gap for seniors, youth, and car-free households. Environmental impact: Mybuxi operates with a fully electric vehicle fleet, replacing private car trips in rural Swiss regions. Each vehicle avoids an estimated 12–18 tons of CO₂eq per year, based on reduced combustion engine usage and increased ride pooling. By offering shared trips on demand, Mybuxi reduces traffic, noise, and particulate emissions in areas with limited public transport. Shotl is a mobility platform that helps people share rides in minibuses that adapt to real-time passenger demand. Instead of using fixed bus routes that often run empty, Shotl allows passengers to book rides on their smartphones, and the system groups similar trips into a single, efficient journey. This reduces the number of vehicles on the road, lowers emissions, and offers better service to those living in suburban or low-density areas, including seniors and people without cars. City councils, universities, and business parks use Shotl to provide flexible, cost-effective mobility without needing new vehicles or infrastructure. The service is already active in several European cities, and has shown to reduce transport costs, increase accessibility, and support a shift toward more sustainable and inclusive public transport.
