Single Biomix Propeller Replaces Two Traditional Mixers with 50% Energy Saving

At EVB Biogas facility, Biomix's next-generation propeller was implemented to replace two traditional mixers operating in the primary digester. The goal was to reduce energy consumption while maintaining mixing performance. Field studies revealed inefficiencies in flow and excessive energy use in the original setup. Biomix's innovative design enabled optimal mixing with a single propeller, improving homogeneity, preventing sedimentation, and lowering operational complexity. The solution was easily integrated into the existing system thanks to its adaptive hub structure.

Impact & Result

Replacing two mixers with one Biomix unit led to ~50% energy savings, cutting monthly electricity use by 2,500 kWh and reducing annual CO₂ emissions by ~14 tons. The system lowered operational costs, minimized maintenance needs, and enhanced process stability. With a payback period under 18 months, it offers both economic and environmental benefits while ensuring uninterrupted biogas production.
