Sepur
Thieverval-Grignon
In the Paris region, Sepur, a company specializing in waste collection and recovery, initially transported food waste from restaurants to a Veolia processing plant for processing and disposal. However, in a bid to optimize their operations, reduce disposal costs, and maximize energy recovery, they decided to install our innovative unit. This system processes food waste directly on-site, allowing Sepur to capture valuable energy from the waste stream. The food waste is fed into the system at the front end, while the residual liquid by-product is directed to their on-site composting facility, ensuring sustainable use of all materials.
The process generates a gas composed of 70% methane, a highly efficient energy source. This biogas is then converted into electricity, providing a renewable energy solution that reduces the company's reliance on external processing plants and enhances their environmental stewardship.
The system is capable of processing an impressive 2.5 tonnes of organic waste every single day, showcasing its efficiency and scalability in managing substantial amounts of biodegradable material. Over the course of a year, this daily processing capacity translates into a significant environmental impact, offsetting approximately 1,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent annually.
SEaB Energy has identified a clear need for compact, onsite food waste processing for municipalities and mid-size waste producers. Anaerobic digestion (‘AD’) is the most suitable process for compact, onsite use of organic waste as a resource, and SEaB is the only company that managed to develop a small-scale technology that can be applied in cities, next to, or even inside buildings. Our end-to-end food waste management system, called FLEXIBUSTER™, is based on more than 10 years’ experience and expertise in waste disposal engineering. FLEXIBUSTER™ is a compact, modular, and fully integrated onsite food waste processing system. The sister product, Muckbuster®, is tailored for processing agricultural wastes such as animal manures and slurries. The systems have twice the impact of solar per kWh of energy produced.
