The impact of the materials on the environment is considered when choosing packaging solutions. So when BESSEY Tool GmbH & Co. KG were looking for a way to replace the plastic cable ties that were securing their products, FibreStrap was a natural choice. “The increasing importance of environmental awareness in the packaging industry motivated us to look for alternatives to conventional plastic packaging. This trial was small, so we didn’t calculate exact figures, but replacing plastic cable ties with FibreStrap consistently saves over 85% CO₂ and 80% water. For example, replacing 12 million plastic cable ties (the annual volume for a mid-size bike producer) would save 300 tons of CO₂, 23 tons of non-recyclable fossil plastic, and 230,000 m³ of water. These calculations are based on a life cycle analysis of CO₂ and water impact.
