Description

The RelaySmartOne was first designed to meet the requirements of the Climate and Resilience law of August 22, 2021, which requires the extinction of advertisements and illuminated signs between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. Our first client was Mediatransport, the advertising agency for the Paris metro, which was looking for a solution to control the lighting and switching off of its illuminated advertising panels, located in the metro stations and corridors. The RelaySmartOne solution was deployed in the last quarter of 2023, in collaboration with the operator Orange which provides the 4G / LTE-M telecommunications network as well as the management and supervision platform for the solution. Since the end of 2023, the 3,500 illuminated advertising panels in the Paris metro now benefit, with RelaySmartOne, from automatic nighttime switching off, from midnight to 6:00 AM, in accordance with the energy resilience law.

Impact & Result

The RelaySmartOne solution enables compliance with the energy resilience law by ensuring the scheduled and automatic shutdown of illuminated advertising screens at night. This not only reduces light pollution but also cuts electricity consumption by approximately 25% (based on a 6-hour shutdown over 24 hours). The solution can save up to 25% on electricity bills, though the exact savings depend on the terms of the customer’s contract with their energy provider.

Solution Spotlight

The RelaySmartOne (RSO) is a remote controlled electrical relay. The RSO integrates a SIM card connected to the national 4G/LTE-M network and can therefore be controlled remotely from a mobile application or a supervision dashboard on the Internet. It allows to remotely program and control the power supply of any type of electrical equipment. It has the capacity to remotely and automatically manage the lighting of infrastructures (streets lighting) and public buildings (schools, administrations, gymnasiums, etc.) or professionals (factories, warehouses, etc…) It can also be used to control power to industrial machines, electric motors, heating and air conditioning systems, and much more… It allows access to the electrical power of equipment on sites that are sometimes difficult to access, at any time without any human intervention or personnel movement.
