Description

Vestas France is aiming for full fleet electrification by 2025 and has implemented the Paragon Pod solution in Sancheville, France. The initiative, starting from a June 2020 tender, saw the rapid deployment of a customized Nano Pod with AC chargers within two months. The Paragon Pod supports seamless electrification through a service model that includes an initial fee and a monthly subscription covering maintenance, energy supply, and grid connection. This solution helps reduce carbon emissions and operational costs from traditional fuel vehicles. Vestas France is leading sustainable transportation in the renewable energy sector, with successful trials and plans to expand across nearly 10 operational sites.

Impact & Result

In 2023, Vestas France achieved significant environmental and economic outcomes with the deployment of Pods. The initiative saved 49.1 tons of CO2, distributed 56,815 kWh of energy, and avoided 1,913.6 kg of concrete per Pod compared to traditional charging stations. Economically, the project had an 8-year ROI, an IRR of 10-15%, and a payback period of 3.5 years. Additionally, switching from diesel to electric vehicles (EVs) resulted in €21,388 in savings across all Vestas sites in 2023.

Solution Spotlight

Paragon Mobility developed the ‘Paragon Pod’ to make the deployment of high-quality EV charging and energy infrastructure faster and easier, anywhere in the world. The Pods are fully integrated, mobile, compact units that can be easily transported and installed at almost any site without construction works, and in areas with weak to no grid connection, thanks to embedded battery storage and energy management software. The stations can therefore be associated with seasonal or short-term uses as well as permanent needs where the ability to develop the infrastructure with the client over time is important. The key is, to allow clients to transition to EVs by deploying quickly in order to test EVs: start small and scale up as needed based on our turnkey service and subscription.
