In Vila Franca de Xira, Portugal, Omniflow technology powers one of the most extensive smart pole networks, delivering renewable energy, connectivity, and safety along a 5 km riverside path between Alverca and Sobralinho do Passeio. A total of 243 smart luminaires, powered by wind and solar energy, and 6 solar-powered benches were deployed, creating an intelligent infrastructure that provides public Wi-Fi, smart lighting, audio communication, and real-time monitoring. Each unit integrates batteries that store energy throughout the day, ensuring continuous operation and resilience even during grid disruptions. This combination of renewable generation, energy storage, and digital services has transformed the area into a safer, more efficient, and sustainable public space.
The new smart infrastructure enhances the urban experience: citizens benefit from safer, well-lit, and connected public spaces with free Wi-Fi. For the municipality, it means lower energy use, reduced emissions, and optimized operations through data-driven management — reinforcing its role as a pioneer in sustainable urban innovation.
Omniled is a single integrated device that combines power generation, energy storage and multi-applications in order to self-sustained urban and remote applications. This smart infrastructure is controlled and monitored remotely. It contains applications like street lighting, wi-fi, surveillance, traffic lights, weather stations and sensors. Omniled is 100% clean powered being a fully autonomous solution powered by wind and solar energy. The product has many advantages as safe storage, low maintenance, combined applications remote monitored and controlled, is autonomous, runs continuously with no unscheduled interventions, and it has the ability to handle extreme environmental conditions where the equipment is able to run continuously.
