Michel Desjoyeaux
Concarneau
Michel Desjoyeaux, a world-renowned offshore racer, decided to test K-Ren’s light-blocking cover on just one hull of his catamaran “Mer Agitée,” leaving the other hull unprotected for comparison. Over the span of one month, the results were striking: the protected hull remained free of algae and other marine growth, while the unprotected hull accumulated a significant layer of fouling. Michel was impressed by how effectively the cover inhibited fouling without relying on toxic paints or frequent cleaning. According to his feedback, the procedure was straightforward to install and required minimal maintenance, which saved both time and effort. This one-hull “A/B test” underscores K-Ren’s ability to replace chemical antifouling methods, offering a practical and eco-friendly solution for top-level sailors and everyday boaters alike.
Michel Desjoyeaux’s one-month catamaran test showed zero fouling on the protected hull: no toxic paints, no metal or microplastic releases, and reduced water usage. Fuel savings from 5–10% less drag lowered CO₂. Freed from repainting, users see immediate cost reductions with a quick ROI, typically within one or two antifouling cycles.
The K-REN hull cover, manufactured in France from recyclable technical fabrics, blocks out light and prevents the growth of marine organisms, thereby avoiding the release of heavy metals and biocides into the environment. Easy to install and suitable for all types of vessels, it reduces the need for frequent hull maintenance while preserving biodiversity and nautical performance. Committed to local and responsible production, we collaborate with regional partners and constantly verify the safety of our materials. K-Ren provides a concrete alternative to traditional hull cleaning, combining performance, sustainability, and respect for the oceans to support the ecological transition of the maritime sector.
