Holkar Palace Resorts Maheshwar
Maheshwar
Holkar Palace Resort, Maheshwar India, a heritage property, needed a natural and sustainable solution to keep open areas and guest rooms cool during scorching summers, while maintaining a fresh, insect-free, and luxurious ambience. Traditional synthetic blinds and air-conditioning were not aligned with their sustainability goals and often resulted in stale air and artificial fragrance, which diminished the authentic hospitality experience. Rayush Naturals introduced KushaWeaves Vetiver Root Blinds — handwoven blinds made from upcycled vetiver roots with patented aroma-lock technology. These blinds were installed in open dining areas, guest rooms, and restaurants. Their natural cooling, thermal insulation, and insect-repellent properties made them a perfect fit for heritage hospitality. Result: Guests experienced a noticeable drop in temperature in open seating areas. Aromatic Freshness: Even in closed rooms, the blinds released a soothing vetiver aroma, eliminating musty odors
KushaWeaves vetiver blinds reduce AC use, saving 15–20% in energy costs and cutting ~8–10 tons CO₂eq yearly for resorts. Vetiver cultivation sequesters up to 15 tons carbon/ha, restores soil, and prevents erosion. Each blind replaces ~25 kg of plastic waste and eliminates synthetic fragrances with natural aroma. Payback is 6–8 months, with 2.5–3x ROI from durability, energy savings, and enhanced guest experience in cooling, fragrance, and insect-free comfort.
Rayush Naturals transforms vetiver (khus) roots—a traditional aromatic grass— into innovative, sustainable home textiles like blinds, curtains, and floorings. Through a patented process, these roots are converted into durable, breathable yarn that offers multiple natural benefits. Unlike synthetic products that consume energy and release harmful chemicals, those textiles provide natural cooling, absorb excess humidity, and release a gentle stress-relieving aroma. They also act as a mosquito repellent and offer UV protection, making living spaces healthier and more comfortable without electricity or chemicals. By replacing plastics and synthetic furnishings, their products reduce microplastic pollution and carbon footprint. At the same time, Rayush Naturals promotes vetiver cultivation, which helps restore degraded land, prevent soil erosion, and create livelihood opportunities for rural women and farmers. This is where tradition meets innovation, offering homes worldwide a sustainable alternative.
