After identifying a major problem in the management of their food waste, Bernerrose, one of the Senevita group's 40 retirement homes, decided in 2022 to launch an analysis with KITRO to understand the problem areas and implement improvements. On average, this facility welcomes 550 patients a day. The measurements were implemented in the à la carte restaurant, which also includes a salad buffet, as well as for room service waste.
Over the initial six months of tracking and measurement, the customer achieved significant environmental milestones. They successfully reduced their greenhouse gas emissions by an impressive 1.4 tonnes of CO2 equivalent, reflecting their commitment to a more sustainable future. Additionally, through proactive efforts, they were able to prevent over 1,200 meals from being wasted, effectively addressing the issue of food waste while contributing to resource conservation and environmental protection.
