Brest Port
Brest
HelioRec, a leading innovator in nearshore floating solar solutions, has successfully completed the installation of a 25 kW project at Brest Port, France, covering a total water area of 247.5 m². What makes this achievement particularly remarkable is that it was carried out under some of the most challenging natural conditions. Brest Port is known for its extreme tidal fluctuations, with tides reaching up to 7 meters, as well as powerful winds exceeding 150 km/h and intense waves. Despite these formidable challenges, HelioRec’s engineering expertise has been proven, as we designed and built a floating solar plant capable of withstanding these harsh environmental factors.
The system generates 18.5 MWh of clean energy per year, significantly contributing to sustainable power production. With a cost of electricity at 112 euros per MWh, it is half the price of electricity from the grid, offering substantial cost savings.
HelioRec® builds floating solar power plants for nearshore locations where half of the world's population lives. The floating solar power plant (FSPP) is offering the unique capability of installation in areas with wave heights of up to 2 metres at an economical cost. The main component of the FSPP consists of three parts: - The floating platform, designed by HelioRec and incorporating our core, innovative and patented technology "hydro-lock", manufactured in the EU, mainly in France. - The moorings that secure the floating platform to the seabed or shore. - PV equipment (solar panels, DC cables, conduits, etc.) is purchased and installed on the floating platform. Once installed on the water, the FSPP will generate clean electricity and save CO2 for customers without occupying any land space.
