story image

Description

Airbus has implemented the Solution for its new 36,000 m2 headquarters in Toulouse-Blagnac in 2019. Vinci Energies is currently operating the system to optimize their energy efficiency and carbon footprint over time. The geothermal collection system consists of 141 vertical probes at a depth of 205 meters. Production is ensured by three thermodynamic substations connected to the probe field by a 400-meter long tempered water loop.

Impact & Result

The solution achieves impressive efficiency, reducing energy consumption by 77% and cutting CO₂ emissions by 87% compared to a conventional system relying on gas and chillers. This highlights its superior sustainability and cost-effectiveness.

Solution Spotlight

With 27% of the French CO2 emissions, the building sector is a major contributor. Improving its carbon footprint is, therefore, a significant challenge, with a targeted effort on heating, which accounts for 75% of the emissions. This is a global issue as most developed countries display similar patterns. ACCENTA invented a low-carbon heating and cooling system that reduces up to 95% of the CO2 emissions compared to standard solutions. It relies on inter-seasonal geostorage and waste heat, from air-conditioners or low-carbon solar heat, produced during summer and stored into the ground. In winter, heat pump's yields are optimized by up to 50% using the stored heat, drastically cutting both energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
