Description

Marina Port de Mallorca has taken proactive steps to combat marine pollution by partnering with Recyclamer and utilizing innovative technologies like the Turbino underwater vacuum system and the GENESEAS autonomous solar robot. The Turbino effectively removes plastic waste, including microplastics, from the seabed, while GENESEAS collects floating debris and provides valuable water quality data. Over a 90-day testing period, these technologies improved water quality and reduced plastic pollution in the marina. In addition to the technological efforts, Marina Port de Mallorca has promoted education on plastic pollution to encourage responsible behavior. This initiative has been recognized as a model for sustainable marina practices, demonstrating the power of technology and awareness in protecting marine ecosystems.

Impact & Result

The GENESEAS system has conducted over 2,000 water quality analyses, removed over 1.2 tons of waste, reduced waste concentration by 15%, and decreased hydrocarbon levels by 40%. The Turbino system has removed 150 kg of plastic, including microplastics, in one month, reducing pollution by 30%. The project has raised public awareness on marine pollution, promoting sustainable practices and reducing accidental hydrocarbon spills by 40%.

Solution Spotlight

The Solution Geneseas seeks to act actively in the preservation of our environment by collecting the solid and liquid waste present on the surface of the aquatic spaces before it is too late and they do not sink or end up in our oceans. It's the only connected, solar and autonomous Solution that allows solid and liquid waste to be collected on the surface of the water, continuously, without providing any effort and without emitting pollution. It offers an eco-responsible, sustainable and profitable solution in the short term for depollution matters, to preserve these spaces and to maintain the cleanliness of the site on a continuous way, without making any effort and without emitting pollution.
