Futura Gaïa, a start-up based in the Gard region of France, designs and sells turnkey vertical farms using rotary geoponics, an innovative soil-based solution for plant production. This approach addresses several key challenges in agriculture, including climate change adaptation, improved water management, pesticide-free cultivation, biodiversity preservation, and supporting local resilience and food security. Built between September 2020 and February 2021, the vertical farm in Tarascon, located in southern France, has successfully demonstrated the effectiveness of Futura Gaïa’s model on an industrial scale.
The innovative farm now produces 5.5 tonnes of high-quality, pesticide-free basil annually, all while conserving a remarkable 1,700 m³ of water each year compared to traditional open-field cultivation methods.
To address urgent and unprecedented food challenges, Futura Gaïa aims at providing an efficient, immediate and sustainable solution through designing, manufacturing and selling turnkey vertical farms. Thanks to inspiring founders relying upon a strong, complementary and experienced team, Futura Gaïa is about to reinvent agriculture.
