SRP (Mesquite) - Arizona electric power and water utility company

One of the largest public power utilities in the U.S., serving over 2 million residents in Arizona, faced lubricant degradation issues in its turbines. Rather than adopting the conventional oil replacement method, Fluitec introduced its patented 'Fill for Life' strategy, which filters, replenishes, and continuously monitors the oil, extending its life. This approach has successfully increased oil lifespan from 8 to over 20 years in this case, benefiting both the lubricant and the turbines. The utility is also applying similar methods to its hydroelectric dams, with recognition from B-Corp and Solar Impulse highlighting the sustainability and cost-saving benefits of these alternative practices.
Fluitec helped SRP extend the lifespan of their lubricant twice, in 2012 and 2022, increasing it from 8 to over 20 years, with an expected 30-year lifespan by 2032. A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) with TU Delft and Solar Impulse experts calculated that every decade, SRP avoids around 130 tons of CO2e, with a current total of 156 tons. Each decade of extended lubricant life also saves SRP approximately USD 3 million in operational expenses, with a current savings of about USD 3.6 million.
The Fill for Life solution is applicable to industrial lubricants and hydraulic fluids. It's a combination of three Fluitec-invented technologies: ESP, Solvancer-DECON AO and Infinity TO. It results in cost savings, CO2e and waste reductions. It aims at transforming in-service oils into Fill-for-Life lubricants. The sustainability impact of our Solution was measured by LCAs and verified by leading European experts. OEM's such as Siemens have also been directly involved in the development and deployment of the technology.
