Sustainable solutions is about continued improvement which is why in August of last year we launched our existing TruDrop self-watering planter and made them Circular Positive. We developed capabilities to be able to use UBQ materials, upcycled from landfill waste in our roto molding process for the covers. By doing so we improved our carbon footprint on an existing, loved product. It was received positively by our customers as it starts to hit stores this spring season. Our inserts will be converted in the next 24 months to also include UBQ materials. Using UBQ materials in the Flex covers diminishes our carbon footprint by 13%. We are just starting to ship the Circular + so not sure yet the full impact. Using our TruDrop self-watering translates in approximately 50% less water usage and fertilizer. From commercial applications we know that watering can go from every day in summer to every week, or bi-weekly translating into huge savings in manpower.
Our TruDrop Flex planters are designed with our award-winning self-watering system that will allow a consumer to go weeks without watering outdoors in full sun depending on the plants selected and the size of the planter. The system is incredibly efficient in using resources to maintain planters alive: significant savings can be seen in time, water usage and fertilizers. In addition, we are now manufacturing our TruDrop planter covers with UBQ materials. UBQ materials takes everything from organic food waste, to clothing, and mixed materials and makes a bio-based material that acts like a plastic. By including these materials, we are diverting harmful emissions from landfill waste and making products that can still be recycled: Circular and Positive.
