Calcaires de la Sambre
Montigny-le-Tilleul
The Calcaires de la Sambre project showcases how solar energy can be seamlessly integrated into industrial operations. Located in Belgium, this initiative involved installing a ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) system on the site of a limestone quarry. The project was completed in just seven months, adhering to strict environmental standards. Innovative practices were employed, such as using screw-pile structures instead of concrete foundations to preserve soil quality and ensure the installation is easily removable. Solar panels were elevated to allow sheep grazing, promoting biodiversity and efficient land use. This approach highlights the synergy between renewable energy production and ecological stewardship. The client benefits from significant cost savings, with solar energy supplied at rates 30% lower than grid prices, while excess energy is fed back into the grid. The project prevents over 1,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually, advancing both environmental and economic goals.
The Calcaires de la Sambre project saves over 1,000 tons of CO₂ annually, equal to removing 200 cars from the road. Screw-pile foundations reduce waste and preserve soil, supporting biodiversity with sheep grazing under the panels. Economically, the client saves €60,000 annually by purchasing solar energy at 30% below grid prices, with a 10-year payback period and full ownership of the installation thereafter, ensuring long-term cost efficiency.
Skysun is a solar power third-party investment company that helps businesses transition to solar energy without the burden of upfront investment (CAPEX) or operational costs (OPEX). Skysun handles every aspect of the project—from feasibility studies to permits, investment in solar modules, installation, and long-term operation and maintenance. Businesses enjoy a free PV installation, reduced carbon footprint, and energy at a 30% discount compared to grid electricity. At the end of the contract, the solar panels become the client’s property. Skysun’s model ties its success to that of its clients, ensuring mutual benefits: the more green energy produced, the better the return on investment. This allows us to fund new projects and amplify our environmental impact. With 20 MWp of solar parks across France and Belgium and cutting-edge technologies like our patented Zinclike, Skysun is a trusted partner for sustainable energy solutions.
