The SBB, the State-owned railway company of Switzerland, cooperated with LEDCity in 2019 to retrofit one of their buildings with a test installation of the intelligent lighting system. They installed integrated radar and light sensors as well as a radio module per light source to automatically adjust its intensity and duration to the actual demand. Thanks to the installed gateways, the collected sensor data could easily be evaluated in real time on a dashboard, energy savings were verified and various measurements for building automation could be used.
- Reduced electricity consumption by 85%, resulting in significant cost savings.
- Enhanced corporate sustainability profile, contributing to improved ESG ratings and stakeholder satisfaction.
In order to supply a high energy demand, energy suppliers must increase energy production, which could be avoided if smart energy solutions are taking place. One and a half nuclear power plants are needed only to power the lights in Switzerland. Up to 30% of a building’s electricity consumption is related to lighting. In addition, 90% of the costs of a lighting system is incurred in operation for electricity and maintenance. All these issues could be avoided by implementing smart-energy efficiency Solutions. LEDCity developed an autonomous plug and play lighting system which is equipped with various sensors to reduce energy consumption by 90 % by controlling the light intensity. It's a user-friendly system which is not dependent on an initial configuration. In addition, to the easy installation, maintenance and the enormous savings in power consumption, it will also be able to replace entire security systems, optimize ventilation systems, etc. based on the collected data.
