Incumbent solutions to the problem of corrosion have included coating components with high toxicity and VOCs. Inspired by nature, our self-healing technology begins to repair coating damage immediately and without manual intervention. AMP-UP 100 Low VOC Self-Healing Primer is a single component, environmentally friendly, and self-healing water based hybrid epoxy primer designed to replace incumbent solvent-borne systems with a higher performing and more environmentally friendly coating system. This novel coating system is designed to displace incumbent coating systems that often release large amounts of volatile organic compounds into the environment. AMP-UP 100 primer also removes steps of mixing separate components before application and has a dry and re-coat time within 1 hour. This primer doubles the lifetime of the coating via built in self-healing technology, that responds to damage when and where it occurs without external intervention. This results in half the amount of paint purchased, half the energy consumed, and only 5% of the VOC's of most solvent-borne coating systems over the lifetime of the surface.
