Aikan provides renewable energy and compost that fight climate change, enhance soil fertility and creates human worthy jobs. Aikan is a fully integrated methane- and compost producing plant, that offer an alternative to bio-waste on landfills. Hereby a huge outlet of climate gas is avoided. Organic waste makes up 50% of all municipal solid waste. It can be a dangerous source of green house gas emission when put in landfills. Aikan is and enclosed solution transforming the waste into biomethane for replacement of fossil fuels, and compost with nutrients that replace non-renewable fertilizers and revitalize the soil. The plant lets wrong sorted items pass through the process. When dried out, by composting, wrong sorted items are easier to screen out from sticky food waste. Cities have different organic waste streams, like green waste, food waste and sewage sludge. The Aikan solution works batch-wise making it possible to treat every fraction separated from the others. That is an advantage when the final products must be used differently for example due to quality or legislation.

- •300 kg quality compost per ton of biodegradable municipal solid waste
- •Avoid 80 m3 of methane outlet from 1 ton biodegradable municipal solid waste on landfills corresponds to savings of 1,9 ton CO2 equivalents
