Melia offers a local and low-carbon alternative to conventional wood pellets by producing high-quality fuel from green waste. Through an innovative pre-treatment process, the start-up transforms locally sourced, non-forest wood into pellets for district and collective heating systems. Its small-scale production units (3,000 tons/year) are installed close to biomass sources, such as composting platforms, in partnership with local stakeholders. This modular and decentralised model ensures secure supply, supports local value chains, and enables long-term contracts, providing stability in a volatile energy market. Each unit contributes to CO₂ emissions reduction, strengthens regional energy independence, and encourages more sustainable land and waste management practices.
