We are focused on our purpose: creating amazing technology that unlocks access to energy, for the benefit of all. In early 2020, we announced the formation of Schlumberger New Energy. This business allows us to expand beyond oil and gas and participate in the low-carbon economy with a focus on energy efficiency, energy storage, and renewable energy production. With product sales and services in more than 120 countries, Schlumberger employs people from over 170 nationalities.
A shared vision
The Solar Impulse flight challenged conventional thinking and resulted in major technology advancements, demonstrating the potential of clean technology and the need to keep innovating. Challenging conventional thinking and pursuing a quest for scientific innovation is what we inherited from Conrad and Marcel Schlumberger. That heritage is still alive today. Schlumberger is committed to being at the forefront of our industry’s shift toward cleaner and sustainable energy production—challenging not only ourselves, but also our customers, suppliers, and peers to partner on delivering measurable social and environmental progress.
Today, 50% of the energy produced globally is wasted due to inefficiencies and outdated technology”. This goes to show that the quest for efficiency is vital for all sectors! Schlumberger understood it better than other technology players in the energy industry, making it a logical partner for the Solar Impulse Foundation.Bertrand Piccard, Chairman of the Solar Impulse Foundation
Good stewardship starts with committing to change, and accountability starts with setting key corporate goals and targets with the right governance to ensure we make progress.
We operate under strict environmental standards and have targets and programs that align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. As a technology company a key objective is to help our customers improve their environmental performance. We have over 100 impact-reducing technologies that help decrease emissions, waste and water usage. In 2019, we became the first Upstream E&P services company to commit to setting a science-based target to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
